Requesting Access
Students, employees and visitors are assigned access according to their status, housing, and department affiliation. While some access is automatically assigned, other access requires approval before being assigned.
Department administrators coordinate individual and group access requests by emailing the Card Office the Banner ID(s) of the individual(s) requiring access and the space required. AFTER access is assigned by the Card Office, the Card Office will notify the department administrator, indicating whether or not encoding is required.
Access requests are processed by Card Office staff during regular business hours and in the order they are received. Department administrators are encouraged to send access requests as soon as possible to ensure that there is ample time to process the request before the access is needed.
If the access request is confirmed as complete and the card is encoded (when required), but the access still isn’t granted, please contact the Card Office for additional troubleshooting.

Residence Halls
Students with housing access issues at the beginning of the semester shall contact Residence Life first to ensure the correct room is assigned to their card. If the card is set up correctly, students may contact the Card Office for additional troubleshooting.
Offices & Departments
New employees shall work with their department administrator to gain access to required spaces. While some access is automatic, other access requires department approval before being assigned.
Other Facilities
Individuals requiring access to laboratories, the Fitness Center, Athletics facilities, student group spaces, and parking shall reach out to the department administrator responsible for managing access for the space in question.
