PC Cash vs Friar Bucks/Additional Friar Bucks

Overview

The PC Card can be used to purchase items both on campus and off campus. Below is a description of the types of accounts available to the Providence College community. To make things easier, students, employees, and family members can make one time or recurring deposits using the Online Card Office.

Only individuals with a regular meal plan have Friar Bucks/Additional Friar Bucks accounts. Individuals may request to transfer funds between their PC Cash and Additional Friar Bucks (not Friar Bucks) accounts by completing the Transfer Request Form below.

About PC Cash

PC Cash can be used in both on campus and off campus locations. PC Cash is NOT associated to a meal plan and all funds are provided by the cardholder.

For students: PC Cash carries over from semester to semester until separation from the college (graduation or withdrawal). Upon separation, account balances greater than $10 will be applied to any outstanding balance on the student’s account. Any remaining balance will be returned to the student in a check. Any student interested in transferring funds from a student account to a PC Cash account may do so by sending a request to the Bursar’s Office.

For employees: PC Cash balances remain in the account until an employee separates from the College. Account balances over $10 are returned to the employee in the form of a check.

Note: PC Cash cannot be used to purchase alcohol at any of our on or off campus locations.

About Friar Bucks & Additional Friar Bucks

Friar Bucks are tied to your regular meal plan and can only be used in certain locations to purchase food. Friar Bucks carry over from the fall semester to the spring semester, as long as the student keeps their meal plan in the spring. Students who do not have a meal plan in the spring forfeit all remaining Friar Bucks carried over from the fall semester. At the end of the spring semester, any unused Friar Bucks in all accounts are forfeited.

The Additional Friar Bucks account is provided to students with a regular meal plan, allowing students and family members to add personal funds that can be used at the same locations as Friar Bucks. Any remaining balance at the end of the academic year (or if the meal plan is cancelled) is transferred to the student’s PC Cash account.
